Australia part 2 of 2

Early morning on April 19th, I headed out of Sydney on a train. I first took a small train to the next big station (from Thornleigh to a bigger station) and then took a cross-country train. After about 10 hours in the train car. I then caught a bus and headed to Lennox Head. I ended up spending a full week in Lennox Head (at the Beachhouse YHA). The next day was pretty hot.

Lennox head itself is a famous landmark. You can see the large piece of rock jutting out into the ocean here. The point causes waves to come in at an angle somehow, and the result is pro surfing!

One day I went windsurfing in the local lake- it's a tea lake with trees around it tinting the water. Really neat. Supposedly the water is good for your skin. You can see the dark tint in the water, and also me surfing here.

One morning I took photos of this sunrise...

This was no safe beach however. Definitely a surfer's and not a swimmer's beach. I rented a surfboard a few times, and one time I was paddling along, and nevously watching all these dark shapes slip underneath my board. I could reach down and touch the rocks. Waves kept battering me, and not once (that entire week) could I paddle pass the breaking point. So tiring! The rocks were a bit scary though...

So after that I took a bus up to Brisbane, and after I got off of the bus, (about an hour later) I noticed my wallet was missing! It was a horrible experience at first. I spent all day the next day trying to file reports and take care of things. It has still not been found. Anyway here's a photo I took on the way to Brisbane on the bus. Not sure what city this is, don't think it's Brisbane.

Downtown Brissie.

Sunday morning I walked into a Presbyterian church and met a lovely couple there, who picked up my luggage from the hostel, and then took me out to their place for lunch. Then we went on a walk, and they showed me some sights of the city! To finish, they even took me to the airport early for my flight! So nice of them. Neil and Margaret have my gratitude. I hear my parents even got a letter from them.

Here's one of the sights they showed me, Brissie from a high hill.

Then I waited in the airport for a bit before flying back to New Zealand. I met and talked to a Catholic Philadelphian American guy attending the Waikato Uni. He was doing the same thing I was, traveling oz while school was out.

April something - 30th
